Now we are really closing this "Baltic loop" by crossing the bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen

Copenhagen mermaid denmark In Copenhagen we made the ritual visit to see the tiny mermaid with loads of tourists like us snapping photos.

After a beer on the colorful quais of central Copenhagen, we sped across southern Denmark to Germany.

We finally took the last of all those ferries; a big one that loaded up hundreds of cars in minutes in a roll-on roll-off movement that was as beautifully choreographed as a ballet.

The penultimate night was spent in beautiful Lubeck, Germany which we explored on foot, of course. My swollen foot was not helping on the wander about but we had sun and warmer weather than most days.

Pierre suggested having lunch in Bremen, the last of our Hanseatic towns. It does have a charming old town and we should have spent a bit more time there, but we were pressed to finally get home.

ludinghausen schule germany Stopping for the final night in Lüdinghausen, a small town south of Müunster where Linda taught English in 1976 was very strange.

Over thirty years ago I had my first real teaching job here. Oh memory lane. Though I hardly recognized the little village that now had a shopping center outside of the center and the 'old town' had pedestrian access only.

The final day of a very, very long journey was straight freeway driving, stopping only for a lunch and quick visit of the old town of Huy in Belgium.

Boullay les Troux sure looked great when we arrived!

Statistics: 52 days, 14,982 kilometers and 3,880 photos.
