Rome Italy December 2005 - January 2006
By Linda Thalman

Rome Trevi fountain Spending just under a week in Rome at the end of December was wonderful... except that it rained four out of the six days. We stepped in every puddle and even experienced a 10-minute hail/snow storm.

We were hoping for warmer weather, but so be it, we bundled up in winter coats, gloves, hats and scarves to take in the sights.

The friends we went with had never been to Rome, so we showed them the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the Forum, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Campo de Fiori, Trastevere, some favorite restaurants and more.

We all visited the Villa Borghese for the first time. Pierre and I took the little train and our friends hired bikes to tour this lovely public park. In warmer months it would be an ideal place for a long afternoon stroll.

Rome the Forum The apartment we stayed in was exactly as described on the web and met our expectations. We were 6 in the apartment (4 adults and 2 children), and as suggested 4 people would be ideal but it worked fine for the 6 of us.

The sofa bed in the living area was very comfortable. The open living and kitchen was perfect, the view delightful, the bathroom with shower worked great and the loft bedroom is every so nice.

As noted in the web description, it is a 4th floor apartment without a lift. We didn't race up and down the stairs, but it was great exercise.

The absolute best was the location of the apartment: in the heart of one of the historic quarters of Rome - Piazza Navona. One has to walk in Rome to enjoy it and my oh my did we walk.

Being in Rome on New Year's eve, we raced down to Piazza Navona (2 minutes away) at midnight and then back upstairs to watch a super fireworks show from the apartment windows. An unforgettable December 2005 - January 2006, in the Coro 02 apartment.
